Reproductive endocrinologists are medical doctors who specialize in diagnosing and treating disorders of the reproductive system. They focus on hormone-related issues that affect fertility, including menstrual irregularities, infertility, and menopause. Reproductive endocrinologists often use medical testing to diagnose and treat conditions. These tests can include hormone testing, genetic testing, imaging studies, and ultrasounds. Once a diagnosis is made, the reproductive endocrinologist will recommend a course of treatment. Treatment options will depend on the type and severity of the disorder and can include medications, lifestyle modifications, surgical procedures, and assisted reproductive technologies. Reproductive endocrinologists also provide counseling for couples who are having difficulty conceiving. They may suggest lifestyle changes to increase fertility such as reducing stress, increasing exercise, or changing diet.
