Obstetrics and Gynecology (Ob-Gyn) is a branch of medicine that specializes in the medical care of women throughout their pregnancies, childbirth, and postpartum periods, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the female reproductive system. Ob-Gyns are highly trained doctors who are qualified to provide specialized care for women from puberty through the end of their lives. Ob-Gyns provide a variety of services, including well-woman exams, gynecological exams, family planning services, and preventive screenings. They also provide prenatal care, labor and delivery services, postpartum care, and reproductive health care. In addition, they may diagnose and treat a range of conditions, such as endometriosis, infertility, polycystic ovary syndrome, and pelvic inflammatory disease. Ob-Gyns can also provide a range of surgical procedures, such as hysterectomies, laparoscopy, and vaginal reconstructive surgery. They may also perform in-office procedures, such as colposcopy and endometrial biopsies. Ob-Gyns are dedicated to providing comprehensive care to their patients.
